VIDEO - Why We MUST Look After Our Planet

Home

By Tom Hasker, Associate Partner, Lighthouse International

Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan’s announcement to donate 99% of their personal wealth to "advance human potential and promote equality" makes them the latest in a long line of entrepreneurs to dedicate their financial wealth to the good of other people and the environment.

The current talks on climate change in Paris, are an example of policymakers and business people coming together to work out how to live in balance with the environment. After all, there is no profit to be made from a planet that doesn’t support human life!

The trailer below for the 2009 film HOME by the director of HUMAN Yann Arthus-Bertrand, powerfully shows why it is crucial for entrepreneurs to contribute their wealth to make our earth a better place and why politicians meet to change policy. If the world that supports us is pushed too far out of balance, if our activities cause too much damage, then the earth will adapt to bring that balance back. Either we find the balance ourselves or the earth will find it for us and we might not like the result!

Remember too, that we all have a part to play in this. Just like any ecology, system, or ‘well oiled team’, we are all dependent on each other as well as the environment...
