The Paralympic Photographer: An Example Of Joy And Determination
By Sukh Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International
"When I am close enough I feel the runners’ heartbeats, their steps and then I’m ready to take the picture.”
- João Maia
Have you ever heard of a visually impaired photographer? How about a photographer whose vision is impaired who takes photographs of athletes in action?
This is such an amazing video of João Maia, a wonderful man who bring so much joy to his work and the first visually impaired photographer to cover the Paralympics. In the video below, you can see the child-like quality pouring out of his love for photography and for the athletes he captures in his camera. He doesn't care about his disability affecting him. He is determined to enjoy his life! What an amazing example...

I want to make the most of my life and help others make the most of theirs. For the last 8 years I have been developing myself intensively with support of an amazing mentorship community at Lighthouse International and our non-profit organisation, Lighthouse Kidz. I am learning and appreciating more and more the importance of meaningful, trust-filled, character rich relationships with people – not just connections. These kinds of relationships completely revolutionise organisations, industries and change families and individuals’ lives.
