By Jatinder Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International
It has been said that success and failure are two sides of the same coin. Very few people can embody this statement to the extent entrepreneur and philanthropist Ted Turner can! Mr Turner was the founder of the pioneering 24-hour news industry when he set up the television channel CNN. He made so much money that he donated $1 billion to the United Nations and challenged other billionaires to do the same. Yet he then entered into what he calls - one of the worst business deals in history - and lost most of his fortune. Despite this, he continues to be a major advocate of climate change.
In this video, he shares his journey and his views on the successes and failures he encountered along the way. While there is some sadness because of his major business mistake and how it affected the lives of his staff, as well as the personal challenge of losing a grandchild, you can see how he decided to get back on his feet and continue. Legends have set backs but they keep on going. They know that while the destination is important, it's crucial to enjoy themselves along the way.

I am passionate about fulfilling my potential in life and helping others to do the same, so that we can all make a difference to society. I’ve learnt that fulfilment comes from pursuing a goal that is greater than my own ambitions and having a real purpose.
