Morgan Freeman - Suffering For His Beliefs

I’m sure you will have seen at least a few of the blockbuster films starring Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption, Batman and Seven are a handful that spring to mind.
However, as you’ll see in this video, he actually had a hard time finding acting work. Morgan shares how early on in his career he didn’t like the fact that black actors were rarely cast as characters who were role models or who had achieved a decent level of success in society. As a result, he stood up and made his voice known, even though he knew he would miss out on work as a result.
Many legends, regardless of their personality type, have the strength of character and self-discipline to stand up for what they think is right when they see a situation that's morally wrong. It takes enormous courage, self-respect and inner confidence to say something when you know that you will be criticised or personally lose out because of it.
Did you know Morgan Freeman was in the military?
He was in the US Air Force from 1955-1959. That’s one of the places where he developed the discipline and character strength he would need later on in his career. Read more here
