Mercedes Report 'Miracle' Effort By Hamilton In Russian GP
By Tom Hasker, Associate Partner, Lighthouse International
When we see sporting achievements it is sometimes hard to attribute them to any one cause - or sometimes to any cause at all!
With Leicester City football club amazingly winning the 2016 Barclays Premier League, it's shown us that the seemingly impossible is possible, and last weekend this spirit was again on show again through Lewis Hamilton at the Russian Grand Prix.
While his teammate Nico Rosberg ultimately won the race, Lewis Hamilton lost all water pressure in his car! This should have been cause to retire from the race with 16 laps remaining. However, he didn't retire, he didn't give up hope of victory and neither did his car. He finished the race in second place to his team mate, who held the lead from start to finish.
An official from the Mercedes AMG Petronas F1 Team said after the race;
"With zero - yes, zero! - water pressure remaining for the last 16 laps, the job he did to nurse the car home and still retain second place was truly remarkable. He had to keep the car as cool as possible to avoid damaging the engine whilst also keeping Kimi at a safe distance, which was no mean feat.
"We genuinely aren't sure by what miracle the car limped across the line - but we're certainly not going to complain."
The spirit to keep moving and push forwards is the foundation of any legends success and it manifests from getting in touch with what we are really passionate about!
