"And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others." - Marianne Williamson
One of the hardest things I think so many of us feel challenged with is just "being ourselves". In fact, how many of us are trying so hard to be what other people expect of us, that we don't even know what that means? If we haven't taken the time to figure it out, perhaps we will never really know. Someone we could all perhaps learn from in some way on this is Lady Gaga. She's someone with courage to freely express herself, no matter how wild, weird or crazy other people might judge that to be... As Oprah Winfrey points out for us in this video, the more we see people being all that they are, it makes us want to be all that we are too.
Isn't it nice to just be you, when you don't worry about being judged or rejected by people? As Lady Gaga says that's where true freedom comes from. Probably the easiest way to achieve this, is to accept the fact we're always going to be judged by someone and you can never please people all of the time. The more we ask questions and get clear about who we really are, who we want to be and what the values we want to live by are, the less we will worry about others. As Dr Wayne Dyer and others have said: "what other people think of me is none of my business".
If you're inspired by this and want to get to know yourself better, here's a great article on singer Adele and how she came to grow up and let go of the past...
