How Will Smith’s Grandmother Stopped Him Swearing
by Sukh Singh, Associate Partner, Lighthouse International
Here’s a fun, heartwarming reminder of the importance of having the right people around you from Legends Report regular, Will Smith 🙂
There’s a serious message here that Will shares. His grandmother saw his potential very early on and held him to that standard. We often go through life not seeing our own potential, so we end up doing things that we believe are ‘within our limits’, like Will trying to rap like everyone else in his early career.
When we are not pushing ourselves to live the best possible life we can, we’re compromising. It’s the equivalent of having access to £100,000 and only using £20 to get by, frustrated that we don’t have more.
Whether it’s a mentor, a friend, a grandmother or a colleague, having someone (or better yet, a whole group of people) in your life who push you beyond your perceived limits is so important. On our own, we can only push ourselves so far. Because Will’s grandmother saw his potential, she made sure he knew and he lived accordingly.
