Jennifer Lawrence Is Taking a Break From Acting
By Sukh Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International
'After seven years of shooting an average of three movies a year, taking some time off. “I want to get a farm,” she says, when asked what’s next. “I want to be, like, milking goats.” It’s not quite the normal life she thought she’d have, but it’s also clear, from her grin, that it’s not half bad.'
- Elle Magazine interview with Jennifer Lawrence
One of the highest-paid actresses in Hollywood, Jennifer Lawrence has shot through to her success in recent years, and she's not even 30 yet! But, rather than continue to snowball her success, the young actress is deciding to take a career break and do something completely different with her life. This is awesome news! There are so many people working day after day after day waiting until the end of their life to really live, and by then they're often too tired to do much with it!
Miss Lawrence is not only going to take some personal time, but she's also going to invest herself more into something she's very passionate about - ending corporate corruption, through the organisation Represent.Us, of which she is a board member. It reinforces the reality that we are not our jobs, and by focusing purely on one aspect of our lives, it will not bring us total fulfilment and reward.
This is all based on the natural principle of balanced self-renewal. We need to know when to rest, when to recharge, when to change course and when to stop. Sometimes though, it can be hard to get off the treadmill! So while Miss Lawrence may have the luxury of taking a break from a high-earning career, many of us are also entering into a break during the holiday season, so here's a question...
If you are serious and would love to be one of the early birds and really use this holiday period wisely to create your life, rather than wake up in January falling into the same old cycle again, email me directly here to tell me who you want to be mentored by and what you would want to learn from them!
