With the recent launch of Leonardo DiCaprio's 'Before the Flood' documentary, this issue has been thrust into the public limelight again. 1. An Inconvenient Truth
After losing the US presidential elections in 2000, the former Vice President Al Gore decided to turn his attention to raising the general population's awareness of climate change. In 2006 his lectures on this subject were released in the film 'Inconvenient Truth'. The approach he took was to focus on the science and the facts.
The photographer Yann Arthus-Bertrand created this film 10 years after the publication of his book 'Earth from Above' that was published in 1999. As a photographer he decided it was important to reveal the beauty of the planet through powerful visual imagery whilst stressing the need to conserve the natural environment.
3. Before The Flood
In 2014 the actor Leonardo DiCaprio was appointed as the United Nations Messenger of Peace with a focus on climate change. As part of this role, Mr DiCaprio spent years touring the globe to uncover the human aspects of climate change whilst urging us all to step up in our action to address the challenges of climate change.
