By Sukh Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International
With the new UK series of Strictly Come Dancing well underway, what better opportunity than to learn from one of the pro dancers on the show?
Professional dancer Karen Clifton has shared some great insights this week, into her training routines. There's something for everyone there, from push-ups to planks to skipping, squats, pilates and walking the dog. Check out this little snippet below:
Got my jump rope out today to mix things up a bit. Haven't jumped rope in a while and I'm a bit rusty but it was fun getting back into it. Jumped for about 3 minutes each time and I mixed it up with some upper and lower body exercises.. Betty was pumped to be outside 😂 #fitnesslife #jumprope #workoutmotivation #rescuedog #sweat #staymotivated #discipline Workout song : @foofighters "all my life" #awesomesong Check out full workout in my new FB page👍🏼 https://m.facebook.com/karenclifton11/
As Ms Clifton says on the exercise:
"Skipping ropes are just fun... As a kid, you don't even think of it as exercise, and I can be creative with different routines."
And as the Telegraph notes in their article:
"According to the British Rope Skipping Association, 10 minutes of skipping can have the same health benefits as a 45-minute run. As well as transporting you back to your childhood, it packs a punch as a proper cardio workout."
Exercise doesn't have to mean you need to turn into an athlete overnight. Developing the discipline we want can start with keeping one commitment to ourselves and learning to do it very well. Check out the full insight into Ms Clifton's training here.
