Powers Boothe Passes Away

By Sukh Singh, Associate Partner & Mentorship Coach, Lighthouse International

Powers Boothe was a longstanding figure in Hollywood. Known in everything from 'Deadwood' to 'Sin City', as well as lending his voice to many children's cartoons over the years, he's had his friends and colleagues pay tribute to his life and career...

Fellow 'Nashville' co-star, Charles Esten shared this:

At the end of a Nashville Season One party, when the great Powers Boothe started to sing "Honky Tonk Man" on @theryman Auditorium stage, I grabbed my phone as fast as I could. So glad I did. This is how I will remember this kind and charismatic man I was thrilled and honored to work with. I was a huge fan when we met. I became even more of one as, through his warmth and generosity, I got to know him a little better. What I'll remember most was his deep bond with, and his obvious love for, his wonderful wife and college sweetheart, Pamela. It's her that he's singing to in this clip. My heartfelt prayers and condolences go out to her and to their family. Rest In Peace, Powers. With your singular presence, you elevated every project you were ever a part of - most definitely including ours. We were blessed to have you in, and on, Nashville.

Mr Boothe was more recently seen on the TV show, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Marvel, the company behind the show, shared this tribute.

"The Marvel family is saddened to hear about the loss of our longtime friend, Powers Boothe. Our sincerest condolences go out to his family and friends."

Here is a quote from the man himself,

"I've been fortunate in my career to have the opportunity to pick and choose the parts I play. I've also been lucky to always be involved with quality actors, quality directors, quality writers."

We wish Mr Boothe's family well during this time.

Jim Parsons Gets Married!

With one life ending, here is a new beginning... You may know him as 'Sheldon' from the hit TV series, The Big Bang Theory, who is to say the least, a bit of a loner. But in real life, it couldn't be further from the truth as Jim Parsons just shared some pictures from his own wedding this weekend.

Congratulations Mr Parsons and his partner Todd Spiewak!

Here's a great insight into how the most successful people in the world build incredible, long-lasting marriages.

Paris Jackson Steps Into The Limelight

"I honestly used to have no motivation whatsoever to be in the public eye; it scared me. I’ve seen what it can do to people, [and] plenty get hurt."

- Paris Jackson

What do you do if your father was one of the most famous and in many cases, controversial, impactful, influential figures in recent history?

Understandably, Paris Jackson has kept herself out of the limelight for most of her life so far. Her father, Michael Jackson, knew all the ups, downs, the pains and the joys of fame. But more recently she has stepped out to start modelling and acting. Why the change?

"I want to actually make a difference. So everything that I’m doing — the acting, the modelling — it’s all just to grow my platform so I can use my voice for things that matter"

At a recent award ceremony, she spoke to the audience further on this,

"I know I'm still super green and super young, but I'm very excited for what’s to come.... I have to make a promise to everybody in this room, that from this day forward, every step that I take and every decision that I make is with love in my heart and with hope to get one more step ahead in fighting the good fight."

These days, a lot of young people are being groomed on the idea that fame and money is the ultimate success. Miss Jackson seems to be realising that fame and success is a great stepping stone to having a greater, more meaningful and positive impact on the world. She is trying to use her voice and increase her influence for good.

How can you increase your influence today? OK, you might not want to become a model right away - but whose life could you touch today with a simple text message or phone call? It is always the little acts that add up to big change.
